By this time, I was realizing that most of the teachers had no intention of coming to see the show. Even some of my friends brought the "evidence" then made excuses to not stay and see the show. I began to write stories in my head about the "fear and loathing of art" at RHS. But, those that did come to the show and chose to "see it" seemed to find many complements and observations I hadn't expected. It was nice to have my good ol' friends back for a week or so.
RHS is a small city divided up into units of teachers and students trying to maintain their own actuation of intent and usually doing a very good, yet incomplete job of teaching/learning. The spirit of the school is no longer shared with enthusiastic support for each other's efforts. Purposefully stoic individuals cling to their old paradigms just as our citizens are doing now in this time of change and re-visioning.
